Whether you’re heading into surgery or standing in the gap for someone who is, prayer is the most powerful way to invite God’s presence, peace, and healing into the situation. A short prayer for successful surgery and recovery spoken in faith can shift the atmosphere, calm anxious hearts, and open the door to divine intervention. The Word of God is filled with promises of healing and protection—and when we pray those promises, we stand firmly on truth that never fails.
Short prayer before surgery
- Lord, You said in Psalm 147:3 that You heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds. Bind mine too, Father—bring healing to my body. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Father, I remember Your promise in Jeremiah 30:17: “I will restore you to health and heal your wounds.” I hold onto that now. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Lord, You are my refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Be with me through this surgery. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Jesus, You said, “Let not your hearts be troubled” (John 14:1). I give my fears to You and trust Your peace. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Father, Your Word says, “Fear not, for I am with you” (Isaiah 41:10). I choose faith over fear as I go into surgery. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Lord, You are the Great Physician. You promised in Exodus 15:26, “I am the Lord who heals you.” Heal me, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- God, I cast all my cares on You, just as 1 Peter 5:7 tells me, because You care for me. Carry me through this. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Father, Your peace surpasses all understanding. As Philippians 4:6–7 teaches, I bring my request to You—let Your peace guard my heart. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Lord, Psalm 41:3 says You sustain the sick and restore them. Let that be true of me today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Jesus, I’m clinging to Isaiah 53:5—“By Your wounds, I am healed.” Let healing flow through my body. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Lord, You said in James 5:15 that the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well. I pray in faith for full recovery. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Father, You created my inmost being; You knit me together (Psalm 139:13). You know exactly what I need—bring restoration. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Lord, You promised in Jeremiah 33:6 to bring health and healing. I receive that promise today over my body. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- God, Your Word in Romans 8:28 says all things work together for good. Work this surgery for good in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Father, You are my shepherd, and I lack nothing. Walk with me through this valley as Psalm 23:4 declares. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Jesus, You healed so many with just a word. I believe You can do the same for me today, as in Matthew 8:8. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Lord, I take comfort in Proverbs 3:5-6—I trust in You with all my heart and lean not on my understanding. Direct this entire process. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Father, You promised to never leave or forsake me (Hebrews 13:5). Be right beside me in the operating room. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- God, You give strength to the weary. As Isaiah 40:29 says, renew my strength and lift me up through this healing. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Lord, I remember Psalm 30:2—“Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.” I call on You now. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Father, Deuteronomy 31:6 tells me to be strong and courageous. Help me walk in that strength today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Jesus, You said in Mark 5:34, “Daughter, your faith has healed you.” I hold tightly to faith as I wait for healing. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Lord, I believe Your promise in Malachi 4:2—that for those who fear Your name, the Sun of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings. Let healing rise in me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Father, in 2 Corinthians 1:3–4, You are called the God of all comfort. Comfort me now and in the days of recovery. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Lord, I remember how You healed the paralytic in Luke 5:24 and told him to get up and walk. Do the impossible in my body too. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
- Lord, You said in Matthew 19:26 that “with God all things are possible.” I trust You for a successful surgery and a miracle of healing.
